The story so far. . .
“It is time for you to rise once more, and claim this chaotic land.” A female voice whispered down.
Screen fades in and out.
“Rise, Child of the Stars.” The voice whispered once more.
Screen fades in and out.
“We give you life once more.” The voice whispered before a blowing sound is heard.
The screen fades in showing the view of wood and stone walls.
Vincent looks around, stopping at the familiarly dressed woman.
“It is time for you to rise!”
“(Says wife’s name) is that you?” Vincent proclaims in a low shaky voice, “I thought you were dead.”
“The woman you speak no longer has a soul residing in the land of the living.”
Vincent remains silent as tears roll down his face, a flash of seeing his family taken comes to view.
“And my daughter?”
“She has received the same fate.”
“Then why am I still here?” Vincent sits up.
“You must unite the people of Umbra and return them to their true home.”
“How have they come to be divided?”
“You will remember in time, for now you must follow me.” She gave out her hand.
Hesitantly he took it. She helped him from the stone alter and led him down a dark corridor to an empty room lit only by torches.
“You must be taught the ways of Krysta.”
Vincent remained silent as he watched the woman hold out her hand, palm facing the floor, and pulled blue krysta straight up from the ground and shaped it into a perfect sphere.
“Here I will teach you the ways of Blue, Red, Green, and Black Krysta.” She spoke as she folded her arms, and the ball dissipated.
“I understand.” Vincent spoke as she walked towards him.
She placed her left hand on his chest, “You have been gifted with a heart of Black Krysta, it is the most powerful Krysta capable of being used in the most destructive ways yet also used to create. As of now your body is changing and adapting to this krysta, either you or it will be in control.”
“Will you teach me to control it?” Vincent asked.
“No, I will only teach you one skill for each of the krysta I have mentioned.”
“Alright. . .” Vincent, already being angered at the fact his wife and child were dead, did not want this gift to turn to a curse.
“I will teach you to create destruction utilizing the black krysta in your body. Stand.”
He stood.
“Hold out your hand with your palm facing me.”
He did.
“Now look for the hole to open, not affront your hand but within you.”
He dropped his hand, “What hole?”
“This one.” As she said that a black hole opened between them. Though it was very strange, for it did not suck anything in it was just there and just as fast as it appeared it vanished.
“You must feel it.” She said, “Now, hold out your hand.”
He did.
“Feel the hole inside you.”
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, as he opened them a black hole appeared between them, this one was far greater. Red lightening struck out from its center violently. As he stood admiring what he’d done, it began to slowly suck him in. The woman said nothing as it seemed that she could not see through the deep abyss that stood before her. As he was almost inside the abyss, it abruptly closed.
“You have done well.”
Vincent said nothing, he was still in shock for almost having killed himself with his own creation.
“Do not fear your abilities Child of the Stars.”
Vincent’s heart sank as he heard this, this was what he had been called long ago, but he could not remember why.
“Now, I shall place Blue and Red Krysta within you.”
“What? How are--” Before he could get the words out, she moved yet she hadn’t. It was as if she flashed affront him and them moved back to where she was standing without moving.
“What was that?”
“Look at your hands.”
There on both of his palms was a glowing red liquid that seemed to be growing. As he watched it, it began to burn. Shortly after he was brought to his knees in pain as the Red Krysta burned its way through to the inside of his body. He writhed in pain for what seemed and eternity, and passed out.
Something wet splashed onto Vincent’s body and he abruptly sat up.
He looked around and gained his bearings, “What was that?”
“The first was Red Krysta, long ago you said it reminded you of Earth Lava, and Fire. The second was Blue Krysta, you have previously called it Earth Water.”
“The second?” He was confused, and then he remembered he felt something wet and cold cover his body, yet as he checked himself he was completely dry.
“Where is the Blue Krysta?”
“It has entered your body through each of your pores, are you ready to learn their uses?”
“Yes.”
“Close your fists.”
He did.
“Now think of the pain you were in when they were covered in Red Krysta, and place that pain on me.”
“You want me to hurt you?”
“Do not fret, I am of the oldest Umbrans, a mere child cannot bring harm to me.”
Vincent felt offended for a moment but understood what she’d meant. He closed his fists and thought of the agonizing pain. He felt hot, hot enough to burn everything around him. He was no longer focused on her, instead his eyes rolled back into his head and he levitated from the ground. His right arm slowly rose, resting extended with his index finger pointed at the woman.
Her gaze widened as she could feel the krysta inside of her begin to boil, “Enough!” she shouted yet he did not stop. Her body cringed and she fell to the floor, he body contorted as she began to dissolve to ash from the inside out. After a few moments her presence was exterminated, not even ash remained.
Vincent closed his fists, and the heat subsided. He was ashamed for what he’d done. He looked around and he was alone. He fell to his knees sobbing.
“Stand.” Her voice rang from behind him. In upset cinfusion he swiftly turned about and there she stood.
“You have done well, though it seems the Red Krysta inside you has a will of its own.”
“Is that bad?”
“Had you not regained control you could have easily reduced this holy place to nothing. You must remain in control. Now I shall show you how to draw krysta from one body to another using Blue Krysta.”
“Why would that be necessary?”
“Along you travels you will encounter many enemies, and in order to replenish yourself you will have to take their Krysta.”
Vincent was silent, he thought this to be violent and barbaric.
“Now you must drain this body of its Krysta, call out to it with your soul.” She took a few steps to the left, and it was if she split herself in two, one of her stood still and the other moved to the left.
“Which one?” He asked in mass confusion.
Instead of answering her, she snapped her fingers and what seem like a tree root impaled the “her” to her right.
“Well I guess that answers my question.” He said sarcastically, “But how do I call out to it with my soul?”
“Achieve serenity.”
He thought about that for a moment, and realized that in those two words she had asked him to clear his mind of all burdens, and that ment clearing his mind of his family.
“I can’t.” He whispered dropping his head.
“You have not attempted.”
He said nothing, instead he went to the dead woman and placed his hand on her, he could feel all the Krysta in her body.
“Is there another way?” He asked, yet no one answered him. He looked to his left, and the woman was gone, there was only this corpse. He left his hand on there for awhile, thinking about how he could draw the krysta up into his own body and after awhile he could feel and see the Krysta being sucked into his veins. He felt a flood of power, as if he could destroy the planet itself if need be.
“Good.” A voice whispered through the air, “Now, go!”
There was a sudden flash, and he stood in a barren land, with no idea of what to do or where to go.
Moments later men and women in white lab coats with stitching all over their bodies had surrounded him.
“We know who you are, you escaped us many years ago, you will not escape again!” One of the men stated, the sound of a gun shot rang and Vincent slumped to the ground.
Screen fades to black.
“Find out what he knows.” A computerized female voice rang out.
Screen fades in and out a few times, then returns to normal.
“Where am I?” Vincent asked struggling to get free, yet he was bound tightly down to a chair and some sort of machine was hooked to him via IV.
“What the hell’s going on?” he asked, again none answered him.
A man looking like the soldiers came into the room with a clipboard, “Well sir, it seems that we need you to tell us what it is you know of your past life.”
Vincent remains silent, growing more eager to escape.
“You can struggle all you want but, see that machine there.” He points, “That nifty little machine stops you from using any of the Krysta in your body. You see she knew you’d come back and so she had us put certain. . . precautions in order for you. So it would be best to just tell us what you know about your past and how you came to live once more?”
Vincent begins to laugh, shakes his head, and spits at the man.
“We Eruditus have ways of finding out what you know, whether you willingly tell us or not is entirely up to you, but we WILL find out what we want.” The man stated with a smile, and walked out of the room.
A long while passed, then abruptly an explosion echoed through the facility. A hole had been blown into a side of the building, and 5 people dressed in cloaks ran into the facility incinerating all those who stood in their way. The sounds of gunshots gave Vincent hope. He struggled until finally the chair he was bound in fell to one side. His right leg was free, so he turned himself until he could successfully kick the machine. He seemed to kick at for hours, when one of the cloaked men entered the room.
“Who the fuck are you?!” Vincent screamed as he continued kicking the machine.
“The Resistance simply calls me Orion, I can help you if you wish it.” His demeanor was not the same as the Eruditus he’d come across earlier.
“Well, what are you waiting for?” Vincent barked.
“I shall assist you.” The man said before coming over and unbinding Vincent, and removing the IV from his body.
Vincent stood up, “Whew, that’s better.” He could feel the Krysta flowing through his body, but he didn’t quite know what to do from here.

Story Board
Project Serenity
Storyboard
At the
beginning of the 22nd century Science on Earth has progressed so far
that human beings are no longer plagued by death. The average life cycle of the
average person is measured in centuries not years or decades. During the 43rd
Century the world is in a state of decay due to the dwindling supplies of
natural resources, animals are virtually non-existing. The UN has decided to
begin work on Project Baby, which is a way to find a drug that stops people
from having children. In a few short years it is perfected, and a world-wide ban
is placed on having children unless you can afford the outrageous price to buy
back your fertility, and even then you were only allowed one child. 2 Centuries
later we found a self-sustaining energy source on Mercury, and decide to use it
to colonize the planets in our solar system. In the 50th century we
have eliminated all resources in our solar system, and we have begun looking
for larger planets in which we could possibly relocate. In an attempt to
colonize other planets in the universe, we sent out thousands of Bio-Vessels.
These giant ships could start life a new with DNA from past and present
creatures of Earth, yet many of them ventured too far for us to ever hear back
from them. One ship in particular reached a part of the universe that was unknown
to us. This was the Augmented Planet Rendering Interstellar Atmosphere, or
APRIA. It was never supposed to have made it this far, yet since it was one of
the most funded projects it managed to reach the literal edge of the universe. There
was no stars or galaxies or anything, just nothingness, a few long years later
they came across a small galaxy that housed a single solar system. In an
attempt to get closer to view the planets themselves, something undetected
knocked a group of engines off of the ship, and set them on a crash course for
Umbra. Fortunately unfortunate for those that lived among the APRIA, when the
engines went out Oxygen could no longer be produced upon the ship, which also
resulted in many small explosions all over the ship. Everyone frantically raced
to the escape pods, many of them shot off in random directions, and many of
them were unable to be used, it only took minuets for the entire ship to be
reduced to a floating heap of garbage. . .
In saving his own life Vincent hijacks a storage ship,
which contained various DNA and a simple AI. Vincent manages to get off of the APRIA,
yet as he is leaving an explosion happens just affront the storage ship, since
the ship was made only for transport it cannot withstand the blast and is
hurled towards Umbra. The Umbrans, in an effort to make sure Umbra is safe,
find Vincent aboard the storage ship and bear witness to strange creatures
roaming about the lands. They give him white krysta to revive him, making his
body immune to the harsh environment, also giving him lasting life. Initially
they tried to bring him into the sea, yet his anatomy differed from theirs, he
only had lungs instead of both lungs and gills. Instead they left him among a
beach that led down to the great city of the Umbrans. After a few days, Vincent
finally awakens, and since they have no method of returning him to whence he
came, they attempted to teach him their ways, yet Vincent felt all of this was
irrelevant to him considering he himself could not live beneath the sea. Instead
he attempts to teach technology to the Umbrans so he can find a way off of the
planet. Not all of the Umbrans cared to be taught technology yet a few of their
masses followed him. In the following few decades he managed to bring these new
Umbrans, which now lived upon the surface of Umbra, to a great technological
age that fused both Krysta and Technology.
SIDE NOTE: When the Umbrans were united they
managed to salvage and restore the almost complete damaged Bio-Vessel. After
the factions split one faction decided that all this conflict was far too much
for them, and they decided to take the now completely restored and completely
functional Bio-vessel and live far above the surface of the planet.
Years later he fell in love with the Umbran Priestess that
nursed him back to health. He then decides that living on this planet is what
he wants, for he cannot stand to be without her, yet since the AI was built to
help scientists develop civilization on planets good enough to sustain life,
she (the AI) could not just discard their plans of getting back to Earth. Vincent
then decides that things would be best left to the AI, unknown to Vincent she
intends not only to create a
technologically perfect world as her programming entails but also to correct
the mistakes that Humanity made. The AI decides that the use of krysta solely
belongs to her and stops giving the new Umbrans krysta, and instead using it
for experimental purposes. The majority of the new Umbrans do not like this
idea due to the fact that they all needed it in order to survive the harsh
environment. Because of the limited amount of different krystas they began to
plunge into anarchy. In this anarchy the Umbrans divided themselves and the
most technologically advanced had begun to create their own social and
technological economy. The A.I. knew that with each strand of krysta brought
different abilities to the Umbran whose body it was in, and since all the
factions were at war she (The A.I.) decided that a technologically efficient
way to quell the hordes would be to capture subjects of each faction that tried
to tamper with their work and experiment on them or kill them depending on
whether or not they could be “useful”, unfortunately it worked.
SIDE NOTE: The Anglers are the only ones that
can use White Krysta Medicinally, the only way any other Faction can use it is
from what the planet dispenses
For years Vincent stood by with the Peacekeepers as they
world fell to anarchy and the A.I. established her dominance. After a few years
of experimenting on the captured subjects the A.I. found a way to utilize them
as her own army, but only post-mortem and not for long. This changed the A.I.
main objective, she had now begun to attempt to create the perfect Umbran, yet this
would be inefficient for she would need the creatures to have lasting life. The
A.I. felt that she needed to capture one of the Anglers (as they had become to
be known as) in order to use White Krysta to give immortal life to her hybrids,
as they had done to Vincent. At this time Vincent and his family were on Calbri
(The largest continent on Umbra) with the Peacekeepers.
SIDE NOTE: The Peacekeepers were once a 100
Angler (The Original Umbrans that lived in the depths of the “Blue Krysta”
Oceans) Council that was told to live amongst the land only to watch over the
young minds of the New Above Ground Umbrans. They lived silently and kept to
the old ways and lived in the only spot on Umbra that had a vast flowing source
of Green Krysta which grew the plants on the continent. This was the largest
but hard to get to piece of land on the entire surface. In the time period of
the events of Project Serenity, only The Eruditus know of the Peacekeepers and
only because they trade food with them in order to keep the growing metropolis
alive. No one else realizes that they are still being watched simply due to the
fact that the Peacekeepers seem to have always been there in silence.
With this knowledge she had decided that she was not only
going to extract the knowledge she needed but if need be she would take Vincent
too. The A.I. sent out a scout team of Eruditus to “persuade” Vincent’s Wife to
join them. After her decline she was forced to come, this obviously angered
Vincent. In his fit of rage he killed one of the Eruditus yet the four others
succeeded in taking them all, even Vincent’s daughter for they could not leave
an orphaned child. They were brought directly to the single metropolis that
stood in this post-apocalyptic world. The A.I. welcomed them by means of
separating them all from one another. She then began questioning Vincent’s
wife, which shortly led to torture, yet before her death she had told the A.I.
of a type of krysta that was kept in the heavens and only given to those who
needed power in a critical time of need. In the AI’s merciful nature instead of
leaving Vincent’s wife dead she decided to use her and her daughter for a very
special experiment. As for Vincent, the AI extracted every bit of krysta from his
body resulting in his death. With the death of Vincent the AI was free to reign
as she saw fit.
Centuries passed and Umbra, who was once cloaked in beauty,
was now bare and rotting, the only lush natural environment was Calbri.
This was the new way of Umbra.
